A POINT IN HAND

Point in Hand

This point, found right here at a dig in Cincinnati, is held in the hands of one of Bob Genheimer’s long time archeology volunteers.  I loved the hands.  As a photographer, this is the type of photo that you want to die for, so to speak.  The volunteer,  as I recall, was very pleased at having found this while sifting through a pile of material from a dig in Newtown, and was happy to show it off.  (I’ll have to determine who she is and update this post.)  For me, her hands, and that shaped rock from five hundred or more years ago, evoked in me a sense of what makes working at the Cincinnati Museum Center and adventure in itself.  Discovery, knowledge, and a greater understanding of who and what we are in the greater scheme of things, are what makes a volunteer’s services to the museum and the community worth the effort.

And speaking of volunteers……here a some of the best of the best……
Volunteers

Here we have Brenda, Betty, and Esther who has recently retired.
